I Have a 5185i with fiery box on back. The printer ststus menu just say`s
check print controller box power and connections. It never recognizes
that the box is installed? I`ve heard of the boot rom kit but have never actually seen or used one!

Well the fiery issue could be a couple of things, firmware, memory, hdd.
Check cables also. Does the fiery boot up properly, there should be two zeros. There is a kit.

Three, one is a crossover cable that connects to the machine port and one ethernet cable whichs connect to your network. On the fiery there are two icons ingrave on the fiery, one looks like a printer, this is where the crossover cable goes then the other end connects to the main unit. The other icon looks like a network icon this is where you connect you ethernet cable. The third one is a interface type cable that connects to the main unit.

Ah, yes. After being down for a bit over a day, I was asked to lend a hand since I am "the network" guy. First thing - check the cables (90% of the time it is a cable issue). He had the cables switched. Written instructions were ignored, pictures did not work, what ?? - color code or scratch & sniff lol
